It functions as a dedicated height speaker for Dolby Atmos, delivering immersive overhead sound, supporting DTS:X compatibility, and creating a rich, lifelike surround sound environment.
Dolby Atmos Surround Speakers
The R8 Meta can serve as a surround or rear speaker with the integrated wall mount feature, or be placed upon another speaker for Dolby Atmos height to bounce sound off the ceiling, bringing Dolby Atmos to the room with no need for custom installation. It has a 12th generation Uni-Q® array with MAT™ to steer the sound for genuine 3D results.

The KEF R8a is a versatile Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker designed to elevate your home theater experience. These speakers can be used as traditional front or rear channel speakers or as upward-firing Atmos modules to deliver immersive three-dimensional sound. Their key features include a Uni-Q driver array for precise sound dispersion, a dedicated upward-firing driver for Atmos effects, and a sophisticated crossover design for seamless integration with other speakers.
Integrated Wall Mount Feature
The R8a is a flexible solution for anybody wanting to bring an all-immersive movie experience to their home. With the integrated wall mount feature, R8a can serve as a surround or rear speaker. Alternatively, if placed upon another speaker, R8a will bounce sound off the ceiling, bringing Dolby Atmos to the home without the need of custom installation. Equipped with a 130mm (5.25in.) Uni-Q array with a 25mm (1 in.) tweeter, every detail is described, steered around the listening space as the director intended.
