Smart IP
Smart IP is Genelec's scalable Open IP networking technology platform, deriving power (PoE or PoE+ Power-over-Ethernet), audio and management all via a single standard CAT cable. The technology offers detailed loudspeaker configuration, supervision and calibration on an individual, room, zone and system level without performance sacrifice. Each model, including the 4436A, reproduces audio with the highest level of uniform coverage, clarity and intelligibility, and can be freely networked with other Smart IP models to flawlessly play back Dante and AES67 streams.
Ease of installation
The 4436A is simple and easy to install, requiring only a single CAT cable for power, audio and management, and its included adjustable wire for hanging. Genelec Smart IP Manager software takes care of device discovery and allows the detailed configuration and status monitoring of loudspeakers, rooms, zones and audio channels. Day-to-day control of basic system functions is made even simpler by our intuitive Smart IP Controller app for iOS and Android devices. Additionally, our Smart IP solutions benefit from a public API command set and a series of freely available drivers that allow easy integration with a range of common control automation systems.
Loudspeaker Qualities
The Genelec 4436A delivers uncompressed, low-latency audio with sub-microsecond loudspeaker synchronisation, ensuring precise and stable acoustic imaging. It offers a frequency response of 58 Hz – 39 kHz through two independent 50 W Class D amplification stages, driving a 130 mm (5 1/8-inch) woofer and 19 mm (3/4-inch) metal dome tweeter. Its proprietary internal power supply technology stores energy to provide an impressive 104 dB short-term SPL when required. The active design also eliminates the need for bulky external amplifier racks and associated cabling.
Design
Created in collaboration with leading industrial designer Harri Koskinen, the 4436A is Genelec’s first pendant loudspeaker. Available in black and white finishes, it can be easily suspended using the included hanging wire. Designed and manufactured sustainably in Finland under strict quality systems, the 4436A combines reliability, flexibility, and ease of installation with Genelec’s renowned technical support and build quality.
