The Genelec 6040R Smart Active Loudspeaker combines advanced Finnish technology with elegant design, delivering exceptional audio performance in a beautifully refined form. Designed for listeners who value both high-quality sound and aesthetics, the 6040R incorporates Smart Active Monitoring (SAM™) and GLM™ calibration technology for precise system optimisation, along with Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW™) Technology for controlled and accurate sound dispersion.
With a maximum SPL of 109 dB and a frequency response of 43 Hz – 20 kHz (-6 dB), the 6040R delivers powerful, detailed, and controlled audio reproduction. Its slim, floorstanding design measures 999 × 237 × 220 mm (H × W × D), with a base measuring 250 mm (W) × 266 mm (D), allowing it to combine impressive performance with a sophisticated presence in the listening environment.
A loudspeaker ahead of its time
20 years after the launch of the original 6040A, the newly re-imagined 6040R now features professional grade LF drivers, proprietary Class D power amplifiers, and tight integration with our GLM calibration software. This allows the 6040R to deliver clean performance, a consistently smooth frequency response, precise imaging and low distortion even in challenging acoustic environments.

Created in close collaboration with leading designer Harri Koskinen, the fluid curves of the 6040R are fashioned from die-cast recycled aluminium. Not only does this design approach create more truthful, less coloured loudspeaker performance, it also means that the 6040R will become the aural and visual centrepiece of any listening environment. Built to the highest environmental standards, the 6040R will provide decades of trouble-free performance.
