Linn Majik 140 Premium Floorstanding Loudspeaker

The Linn Majik 140 is a four-way ported floorstanding loudspeaker that delivers exceptional high-fidelity sound through a sophisticated drive-unit configuration and precision Linn engineering. Designed for serious music enthusiasts, the Majik 140 combines Linn's acclaimed tweeter technology with dedicated bass drivers to achieve remarkable clarity and musical presentation across the full audio spectrum.

Overview

As part of Linn's Majik series, the Majik 140 represents an ideal balance of performance and value, featuring Linn's proven 2K tweeter-supertweeter array combined with dedicated mid and bass drivers. The four-way design ensures optimal frequency response distribution, allowing each driver to operate within its ideal performance range for enhanced clarity and musicality.

Key Features

The Linn Majik 140 Premium Floorstanding Loudspeaker combines a carefully engineered driver arrangement with an advanced crossover design to deliver detailed highs, smooth midrange reproduction and powerful, controlled bass. Its Linn 2K Tweeter-Supertweeter Array features a 30 mm soft polyurethane elastomer-dome tweeter covering 1.5–6 kHz and a 19 mm fabric-dome supertweeter reproducing frequencies above 6 kHz for excellent high-frequency detail and presence.

A dedicated 6.5-inch glass-fibre-and-composite-cone bass driver in a rear-ported, vented enclosure reinforces low-frequency output below 200 Hz, while a 6.5-inch doped-paper-cone mid/woofer in a sealed enclosure ensures a smooth transition through the midrange. The precision crossover network operates at 1.6 kHz and 6 kHz to integrate the drivers seamlessly. Supplied foam port bungs provide additional flexibility for speaker placement, including configurations closer to walls.

Design & Construction

The Majik 140 exemplifies Linn's commitment to precision engineering and musical accuracy. Each drive unit is carefully selected and positioned to create a coherent soundstage with exceptional imaging. The cabinet construction utilizes rigid materials to minimize resonance and cabinet coloration, ensuring the listener hears only the music.

The lower bass driver operates in its own dedicated enclosure, vented to the rear, ensuring powerful and controlled bass response without compromising midrange clarity. This design approach delivers the dynamic impact and control that makes vinyl playback on the Majik 140 particularly rewarding.

Finish Options

The Majik 140 is available in six standard wood finishes: Rosenut, Walnut, Cherry, Oak, Black Ash, and White. High-gloss custom finishes are available for an additional premium, allowing personalization to match any interior décor.

Upgrade Path

The Majik 140 supports multiple upgrade options, from simple bi-wiring through to a fully Aktiv configuration using eight channels of amplification. This upgrade path ensures your speakers can evolve with your system, offering future-proof expandability. Optional speaker bases are available for enhanced isolation and aesthetic presentation.

Critical Reception

The Majik 140 has been praised by audio reviewers for delivering exceptional musical engagement and clarity that belies its price point. The coherent integration of the four-way driver array creates a natural, engaging soundstage ideal for both critical listening and everyday enjoyment of music.
