Create and Customize Audio Experiences

The McIntosh CR106 allows you to create and customise Experiences through the Connect app or web interface for convenient, personalised audio control. When an Experience is saved, it captures the current input selection and volume levels for each zone. These saved settings can be recalled or activated whenever needed, making it easy to return to preferred listening configurations without manually adjusting each zone.

Flexible Connectivity Options

The CR106 provides flexible connectivity for a variety of audio source components, including CD players, music streamers, and tuners. It features four unbalanced analogue inputs and four digital inputs, allowing multiple sources to be integrated into the distributed audio system. For larger installations, up to five CR106 units can be interconnected through the Dante® network interface, supporting up to 30 independent two-channel audio zones. Dante technology uses a standard computer network to distribute digital audio between compatible devices and multiple locations, simplifying audio connectivity in larger multi-room installations.

The CR106 also supports direct Bluetooth® audio streaming, allowing a compatible smartphone or tablet to serve as a convenient music source. Its Bluetooth capabilities include Advanced Audio Coding (AAC), Qualcomm® aptX™ HD for high-resolution audio playback, and Qualcomm® aptX™ Adaptive, which is designed to provide robust, high-quality wireless audio transmission. Flexible Zone Outputs and Power Control

Each zone of the McIntosh CR106 features two sets of unbalanced audio outputs, along with dedicated subwoofer outputs. This flexible configuration supports a range of installation possibilities, including playing the same audio through four speakers and two subwoofers within a single zone or distributing the same audio across two zones simultaneously. Your installer can recommend the most suitable configuration based on your system requirements and listening preferences.

Dedicated power control trigger outputs also enable synchronised power on/off operation with compatible connected McIntosh components, simplifying system management.

Streamlined Integration into a Distributed Home Audio System

The compact McIntosh CR106 is designed for straightforward integration into a distributed home audio system. It fits into a standard A/V equipment rack and requires just 2U of rack space, with rack-mounting brackets included. Its unbalanced audio outputs can connect to compatible custom-installation amplifiers, including the MI502 2-Channel Amplifier with 500 watts per channel, MI254 4-Channel Amplifier with 250 watts per channel, MI128 8-Channel Amplifier with 120 watts per channel,  MI1250 12-Channel Amplifier with 50 watts per channel.

Pair the CR106 with McIntosh in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, such as the WS500 In-Wall Speaker, WS300 In-Wall Speaker, and CS200 In-Ceiling Speaker, to create a customised listening experience throughout your home. For additional system protection, the rack-mountable MIP200 Power Controller can be incorporated into the installation.
