The MC255 5-Channel Power Amplifier is engineered to give your home theater the exceptional power, clarity, and cinematic depth it truly deserves. At its heart is the striking TripleView™ Power Output Meter, a 15-inch wide display featuring three independent mechanical meters that provide real-time power readings for the front left, center, and right channels. Unlike previous designs with separate meter windows, this unified TripleView enclosure brings a seamless aesthetic and the iconic McIntosh meter movement, complete with the signature blue glow which can be turned off when watching movies to avoid distracting light.

Performance has been significantly elevated in the MC255, starting with a 50% increase in filter capacity, resulting in a remarkable boost of dynamic headroom from 1.7dB to 3.6dB. This enhances low-frequency performance and delivers more powerful, effortless sound during intense action scenes. The amplifier now outputs 250 watts per channel to the three front channels when used independently and 200 watts per channel across all five channels in full surround mode. Thanks to Dynamic Power Manager® (DPM) technology, the amplifier delivers its rated power consistently to both 4-Ohm and 8-Ohm speakers, ensuring optimal performance regardless of speaker configuration.

Engineered for silent, cool operation, the MC255 incorporates four Monogrammed Heatsinks™ paired with advanced high-current output transistors, eliminating the need for noisy cooling fans. A specially wound toroidal isolation transformer further minimizes noise, while the updated gold-plated binding posts ensure long-lasting, corrosion-free connections. The front panel now includes traditional McIntosh knobs, direct LED illumination for improved color accuracy, and an eco-friendly power management system that automatically powers down the unit when no signal is detected.

Staying true to McIntosh’s legacy of protection and reliability, the MC255 is equipped with Power Guard®, which prevents speaker damage from clipping, and Sentry Monitor™, which instantly disengages the output stage during unsafe operating conditions, resetting automatically when conditions normalize. Both balanced and unbalanced inputs are provided for seamless integration with any home theater processor.

Versatile in application, the MC255 can power a standard 5-channel theater, support additional surround channels when paired with MI128 or MI254 amplifiers for Dolby Atmos®, DTS:X™, or Auro-3D®, or function as a 2-zone amplifier delivering 250W to the front channels in Zone A and 200W to the surrounds in Zone B. Wrapped in the classic McIntosh design featuring a black glass front panel, aluminum end caps, illuminated logo, and the iconic TripleView meter, the MC255 stands as a powerful blend of technology, performance, and timeless aesthetics.
