CDs can be enjoyed through any DAC-equipped component with standard digital inputs, including select McIntosh processors, integrated amplifiers, and preamplifiers. For SACDs, the MCT output ensures secure high-definition transmission when connected to compatible McIntosh models such as the D1100, C55, C2800, C49, D150, MA9500, MA8950, MA7200, MA5300, or MAC7200. This unique connection unlocks the full resolution and detail of SACD audio, offering a truly immersive listening experience.
The MCT500 supports a wide range of disc formats, including SACD, CD, CD-R/RW, and DVD-R, with playback optimized by a twin-laser optical pickup designed to accurately read both SACD and CD layers. A conveniently placed front-panel USB input allows effortless playback from USB flash drives, while user-generated discs and data DVDs can support formats such as AAC, AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, MP3, WAV (up to 24-bit/192kHz), WMA, and DSD (up to DSD128). Disc performance is enhanced by a high-precision transport mechanism featuring a die-cast aluminum tray, an advanced digital servo, and 2× read-speed scanning, ensuring smoother operation, superior tracking, and robust error correction.
