Using McIntosh’s advanced ported 4-way line array design, the XRT1.1KL produces an exceptionally even and wide sound field. This ensures that listeners seated closer to the speaker are not overpowered by loud volume, while those farther away enjoy consistent sound without loss of clarity or level. The result is superb stereo imaging and a beautifully immersive listening experience from virtually any position in the room.

Four-way system with 70 drivers

The XRT1.1KL is an uncompromising four-way loudspeaker system that employs a remarkable total of 70 drivers to reproduce the entire audible frequency range with exceptional accuracy and scale. Low frequencies are handled by four 6.5-inch woofers, delivering deep, controlled bass with authority and impact. Two additional 6.5-inch low-frequency midrange drivers ensure a seamless transition from bass to midrange, preserving weight and clarity in the lower mids.

For the critical mid and high-frequency regions, the system uses an array of twenty-four 2-inch upper-frequency midrange drivers and forty ¾-inch tweeters, precisely arranged to produce stunning detail, wide dispersion, and uniform sound coverage throughout the listening space. This extensive driver array allows the XRT1.1KL to deliver lifelike dynamics, exceptional resolution, and a truly immersive listening experience at any volume level.

The woofers and low-frequency midranges originally designed for the flagship XRT2.1K are built with stiff yet lightweight diaphragms and long-throw designs to produce deep, articulate bass. The upper midrange and tweeter drivers, also inherited from the XRT2.1K, are arranged on the line array to deliver outstanding detail, clarity, and smooth high-frequency performance.

Advanced crossover network for accuracy

To maintain flawless performance across all frequencies, the XRT1.1KL incorporates a precision-engineered crossover network. Built with low-loss capacitors and high-current inductors, each component is selected for high linearity even under heavy power loads. This eliminates distortion at any volume level, preserving the accuracy and purity of your music. The network also includes self-resetting PTC fuses for enhanced protection of the drivers.

Premium design with iconic McIntosh styling

Aesthetically, the XRT1.1KL is every bit as stunning as its sound. The bass cabinet features seven layers of high-gloss piano black paint, complemented with brushed and black aluminum highlights. The line array showcases McIntosh’s signature design cues with a glossy black center and elegant silver trim. It is suspended in front of the bass cabinet using steel spiders inspired by modern skyscraper architecture, finished with magnetic covers shaped like McIntosh control knobs.

The magnetic grilles feature black knit fabric with high-gloss accents, and can be easily removed to display the full driver array. The precision-machined aluminum and glass base plate includes four adjustable feet for perfect floor coupling, ensuring stability and eliminating unwanted vibrations.

Connectivity and power control integration

The XRT1.1KL’s gold-plated Solid Cinch™ binding posts ensure secure cable connections that won’t loosen during use. Separate binding posts for mid/high, low, and subwoofer frequencies allow for tri-amping or tri-wiring, offering users advanced customization and performance optimization. The McIntosh logo on the base illuminates when connected to compatible McIntosh components through Power Control technology, adding a refined visual touch to the system.
