As a true four-way loudspeaker system, the XRT2.1K is engineered to deliver exceptional accuracy and realism across the entire audible frequency range. Each speaker incorporates an extraordinary array of 81 drivers, purposefully assigned to specific frequency bands for seamless integration and precise control. Low frequencies are produced by six powerful 8-inch woofers, delivering deep, authoritative bass with clarity and impact. Two 6.5-inch low-frequency midrange drivers ensure a smooth and natural transition into the midrange, preserving body and tonal balance.

The critical upper midrange is handled by twenty-eight 2-inch drivers, while an impressive forty-five ¾-inch tweeters reproduce the highest frequencies with remarkable detail, speed, and openness. Together, this meticulously engineered driver array creates a vast, immersive soundstage with uniform dispersion, lifelike dynamics, and breathtaking resolution throughout the listening space.

The woofers and low-frequency drivers are newly engineered specifically for this model, featuring lightweight yet extremely rigid diaphragms with long-throw designs for exceptional low-end performance. The aluminum-magnesium midrange and tweeter drivers on the line array are customized for clarity and detail, powered by premium neodymium magnets.

Precision-engineered crossover network

To support the enormous range of frequencies produced by its 81 drivers, the XRT2.1K uses a highly refined crossover network. Built using low-loss capacitors and high-current inductors, each component is selected for maximum linearity even under high power loads. This ensures the sound remains distortion-free at any frequency and at any volume, maintaining McIntosh’s signature accuracy and musicality.

Elegant, premium construction

Visually, the XRT2.1K is as breathtaking as its performance. The reinforced bass cabinet features brushed and black aluminum, finished with seven layers of high-gloss piano black paint. The line array mirrors McIntosh’s iconic front-panel styling with a glossy black center and silver aluminum end caps. It is elegantly suspended in front of the bass cabinet using steel spiders covered with magnetic decorative caps resembling McIntosh control knobs.

The speaker grilles attach magnetically and feature black knit fabric with high-gloss accents. A precision-machined aluminum and glass pedestal supports the cabinet, along with four adjustable feet that ensure perfect floor contact, eliminating unwanted vibrations for pure, undistorted sound.

Advanced connectivity and illumination

McIntosh's patented gold-plated Solid Cinch™ binding posts ensure secure cable connection and optimal signal transfer. Three independent pairs of binding posts allow tri-amping or tri-wiring, enabling users to push the performance to even greater heights. The base plate features an illuminated McIntosh logo, which can glow green when connected to compatible McIntosh amplifiers and components through Power Control technology.
