Designed by legendary audio engineer John Curl, it runs high‑bias Class A/AB (the first ~7 watts in pure Class A) with a direct‑coupled signal path for maximum clarity. A 1.5 kVA toroidal transformer and 98,400 µF of filter capacitance supply clean current on demand, while 250 W x3 into 8 Ω (400 W x3 into 4 Ω), balanced XLR and RCA inputs, and THX Ultra2 certification make integration straightforward in serious home theaters.

The Parasound Halo A 31 3-Channel Power Amplifier is a high-performance amplifier featuring circuitry designed by legendary engineer John Curl, combining high-bias Class A/AB operation with powerful, detailed sound reproduction. It delivers 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 400 watts per channel into 4 ohms across all three channels. Adjustable gain provides up to +6 dB above the THX reference level, while balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs offer flexible connectivity. Its direct-coupled design eliminates capacitors and inductors from the audio signal path to help preserve signal purity. The amplifier features a JFET input stage, complementary MOSFET driver stage, and 24 beta-matched 15-amp, 60 MHz bipolar output transistors.

A 1.5 kVA encapsulated toroidal power transformer with independent secondary windings for each channel supports reliable power delivery, complemented by 98,400 µF of power-supply filter capacitance. DC servo and relay protection circuits help safeguard the amplifier and connected equipment, while front-panel indicators display AC power status, channel status, and high-temperature warnings. THX Ultra2 certification makes it suitable for high-performance home theatre systems, and automatic turn-on can be activated through a 12V trigger or audio signal. Heavy-duty 24-karat gold-plated five-way speaker terminals provide secure connections. The amplifier is housed in a four-rack-unit chassis with carry handles, and a rack-mounting adapter is included for convenient installation.
