Quattrocanali 4804 DSP+ offers the traditionally amazing sound quality and reliability of all Powersoft products. The patented SRM (Smart Rails Management) technology allows to maximize the efficiency of the system and drastically reduce power consumption in any load and usage condition. Quattrocanali features the lowest thermal dissipation in the industry, reducing the need for external cooling devices.
Quattrocanali is designed to operate with Lo-Z (from 2 Ω) and 70V/100V distributed lines or any mix. DSP+ versions of the Quattrocanali grant in-depth control and monitoring via Armonìa, tailoring the sound and managing the system can be done in a remote, decentralised location. DSP+ versions extend signal routing capabilities with the integration of AES67 digital audio networking architecture. This Amplifier Platform can also be trusted in mission-critical applications, such as fire alarm systems, thanks to the cleverly engineered power supply that allows reliable operation even when connected to a UPS.
Features
The unit features a robust power supply system, incorporating a patented ripple cancellation output filter and advanced low inrush current technology. This design eliminates the need for costly external power sequencers by minimizing AC inrush at startup. It also includes a detachable IEC C19/22.2 mains cable, supporting 16A for EU and 20A for USA standards, ensuring flexible and secure power connectivity.
To ensure safe and reliable operation, the amplifier integrates a comprehensive protection suite. This includes AC protection that shuts the system down when the mains voltage is out of range, as well as clip limiters that prevent severe waveform clipping while preserving full peak output. Additional protection mechanisms include DC protection against infrasonic signals, VHF protection against inaudible high-frequency interference, automatic short circuit protection with self-reset, and a long-term limiter that manages steady non-audio signals. Thermal protection ensures the output stages remain safe up to 80°C (176°F), supported by a temperature-controlled variable-speed fan with front-to-back airflow. An onboard temperature forecast feature with LCD tracking enhances thermal monitoring by logging historical behavior.
The unit’s general design is optimized for efficiency and flexibility, featuring a fixed-frequency switch-mode output stage known for high-grade audio accuracy. Its compact 1RU form factor reduces rack space and cost, while the lightweight 7 kg (15.4 lbs) construction simplifies handling and installation. Standard Phoenix connectors support analog outputs, auxiliary supply, alarms, and GPIO connections, with remotely switchable double inputs (main and auxiliary) available per channel for added versatility.
Under settings and configuration, the amplifier offers user-definable options such as defeatable clip limiters and digital gain-attenuator controls for each channel. Gate functionality is also defeatable, and users can adjust gain, sensitivity, maximum output power, and maximum mains current draw according to system needs. Setup configurations can be locked using a user-selected access key, and full remote control is available via a built-in RS-485 interface, allowing for real-time diagnostics, operational adjustments, and monitoring.
The unit is equipped with advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) based on the TI C6000 platform. It employs dual 24-bit @ 48 kHz Tandem® AD/DA converters and offers per-channel independent equalisation using PEQ, raised cosine filters, shelving IIR, and custom output FIR filters. A delay of up to 100 ms per channel supports precise time alignment. Powersoft's proprietary Active DampingControl™ compensates for signal loss over long cable runs, while TruePower™ limiters (Peak, RMS voltage, RMS current) ensure consistent, distortion-free output under varying loads.
Finally, remote control and monitoring are supported through ArmoníaPlus software and a dedicated WebApp, enabling detailed control and diagnostics from a connected device. Physical hardware controls include attenuation (0 dB to 26 dB), high-pass filter activation (35 Hz and 70 Hz), output mode selection (Lo-Z, Hi-Z, 70V, 100V), and adjustable gain settings ranging from 26 dB to 35 dB. This combination of software and hardware flexibility ensures the unit can be precisely configured and monitored for any professional audio application.
