SVS Prime Center 3-Way Center Channel Speaker

Description

Unrivaled among center channel speakers in its class, Prime Center delivers crisp dynamics, crystal clear vocals, and a broad, precise soundstage. 3-way design is optimized for the widest sweet spot possible.

It's rare, if not impossible to find a true 3-way center channel speaker at even close to what the Prime Center costs. Leveraging design elements and technology from the SVS Ultra Center, the Prime Center speaker features premium drivers and crossover components and sophisticated engineering that put it in a class by itself when compared to other center speakers in its class.

Center channel speakers are often considered the most underrated speakers in a home theater because they handle so much of the content yet are designed as afterthoughts by many audio brands. The SVS Prime Center accepts no compromises and anchors the front soundstage of a 5.1 home theater surround sound system or other set-ups with precision and power that complements even the most high-end multi-channel systems.

SVS Prime Center Speaker

The SVS Prime Center speaker is designed to deliver exceptional performance as the centre channel of a surround sound home theatre system. Every aspect of its design focuses on sonic excellence, from the premium-grade drivers and sophisticated SoundMatch three-way crossover to the extra-thick front baffle, internal bracing and FEA-optimised tweeter diffuser. These carefully engineered features help deliver outstanding performance, dialogue clarity and an expansive front soundstage.

Prime Driver & Tweeter Design

Since centre channel speakers reproduce a significant portion of audio content, including dialogue and vocals, the SVS Prime Center features a lightweight and rigid polypropylene cone midrange driver. It is engineered to provide a flat frequency response and generate the sound pressure levels required for dynamic in-room performance and an expansive front soundstage. The midrange driver is housed in a dedicated sub-enclosure within the cabinet to prevent unwanted modulation from the powerful woofers.

The 1-inch aluminium dome tweeter combines lightweight construction, efficiency and rigidity to deliver clear, detailed high frequencies, even at high volume levels. Its transparent and airy presentation helps female vocals and dialogue sound crisp, smooth and natural. The powerful 5.25-inch woofers feature an all-new cast ABS-fibreglass composite basket that ensures precise component alignment and a rigid, resonance-free structure. Their lightweight and rigid cone material supports a flat frequency response and deep, authoritative bass reproduction. The rear-ported cabinet is optimally tuned to work with the dual woofers for enhanced bass extension.

Innovative SoundMatch Crossover Design

The SVS Prime Center uses a proprietary SoundMatch three-way crossover designed to provide balanced tonal performance and seamless integration between its drivers. It incorporates premium-grade capacitors, air-core inductors and heavy-trace printed circuit boards. These high-quality components help reduce distortion, maintain tighter tolerances and improve overall sound reproduction. The crossover is carefully tuned so that each driver blends smoothly with the others, delivering excellent on-axis and off-axis response, precise spatial imaging and clear reproduction across dialogue and action-focused soundtracks.

Performance-Driven Cabinet Design and Geometry

The Prime Center speaker features a carefully engineered cabinet designed to support accurate sound reproduction and minimise unwanted acoustic effects. Tapered edges, known as chamfers, on the front baffle help reduce edge diffraction for clearer and more precise soundstaging. The substantial cabinet maintains a modern industrial appearance without visually overwhelming the room. Acoustic enhancements, including shorting rings and a tweeter diffuser, further contribute to its performance. The speaker is available in Piano Gloss Black and premium Black Ash finishes.
