SVS Ultra Evolution Center 3-Way Centre Channel Speaker

Description

The SVS Ultra Evolution Center is the dedicated centre channel of SVS's flagship Ultra Evolution range, sold as a single speaker. It is a genuine three-way design, unusual for a centre, with a 1 inch diamond-coated aluminium dome tweeter, a 4.5 inch glass-fibre midrange driver, and two 6.5 inch glass-fibre woofers in a time-aligned, rear-ported cabinet. Giving the midrange its own dedicated driver rather than leaving it to the woofers is what keeps dialogue clear and natural, which is exactly what a centre channel exists to do.

It is voiced to match the Ultra Evolution towers and bookshelves, so the sound stays tonally seamless as effects pan across the front of the room. The same engineering runs through it: the diamond-coated tweeter for airy, detailed highs, a curved time-aligned baffle so each driver's output reaches you together, and a separate internal chamber for the midrange to keep it free of the woofers' pressure. A dedicated three-way crossover with a vertical tweeter and midrange array holds dialogue clear and intelligible whether you sit dead centre or off to the side. It comes in piano gloss black, piano gloss white, or a black ash woodgrain finish to match the rest of the range.

Why Consider the SVS Ultra Evolution Center

The centre channel carries the majority of a film's dialogue, so it is the speaker that most determines whether voices sound clear and natural in a home theatre. Most centres are two-way designs where the same drivers handle both bass and midrange, which can muddy voices during busy scenes. The Ultra Evolution Center avoids that with a true three-way layout, giving the vocal range its own dedicated 4.5 inch midrange driver in its own sealed chamber, so dialogue stays intelligible even when the soundtrack is loud and complex. Because it is voiced to match the Ultra Evolution towers and bookshelves, it blends seamlessly with them across the front stage. If you are building a home theatre around any Ultra Evolution speakers, this is the centre designed to complete it.

Key Features

The SVS Ultra Evolution centre channel is a dedicated three-way speaker, sold individually and voiced to match the Ultra Evolution range. It features a 1-inch diamond-coated aluminium dome tweeter, a 4.5-inch glass-fibre composite midrange driver and dual 6.5-inch glass-fibre woofers, providing a dedicated driver arrangement for detailed high frequencies, clear midrange reproduction and powerful low-frequency output.

A separate acoustic chamber isolates the midrange driver, while the time-aligned curved baffle is designed to maintain phase coherence. The vertical tweeter and midrange array supports wide, clear dialogue reproduction across the listening area. With a frequency response of 40 Hz to 40 kHz, the speaker is designed to reproduce a broad range of audio frequencies.

The cabinet incorporates dual 1.6-inch rear-firing flared ports. Dual gold-plated 5-way binding posts provide secure connections and support bi-amping. A magnetic cloth grille and rubber feet are included.

Ideal For

The SVS Ultra Evolution centre channel is ideal for use as the centre speaker in a 5.1 or larger home theatre system, particularly in setups built around Ultra Evolution floor-standing or bookshelf speakers. Its vertical tweeter and midrange arrangement makes it suitable for rooms with wide seating areas where clear, consistent sound away from the central listening position is important.

It is especially well suited to film and television viewing, where dialogue intelligibility is a priority. Designed for convenient placement on a rack or console below the screen, it is also an excellent choice for buyers seeking a tonally matched flagship front soundstage with other speakers in the Ultra Evolution range.
