The DIAMOND 12.C brings cinema-quality vocal tangibility and depth to the Wharfedale DIAMOND 12 series home theatre system.
Designed as the centrepiece and perfect complement for the DIAMOND 12 series stand-mount (bookshelf) and floor-stander models, the DIAMOND 12.C is compact, accurate and powerful.
Using dual 130mm (5”) clarityTM drivers for accurate, refined mid-range and bass frequencies, while the 25mm (1”) dome tweeter delivers open and smoothly extended high frequencies opening up detail and depth for movies, sports and music.
Product Features
The DIAMOND 12.C brings improvement over the years. Diamond 12’s design provides the advantage of the woofer’s rear radiation by venting it via a rear-positioned, critically tuned port. Computer simulations and extensive listening tests determined the ideal port design to match the enclosure’s internal volume and woofer’s behaviour. The crossover network is far more sophisticated than one usually finds in speakers in this price class.
It uses a complex Linkwitz-Riley 24dB/octave topology featuring air-core inductors (coils) of the type more commonly found in high-end speakers. 12.c of Diamond series woofers feature our new Clarity mica-infused Polypropylene cones with moulded radial ribs to add stiffness and reduce flexing. The result is a lightweight cone with high rigidity, low colouration, and lightning-fast response.
Connection at Ease
Diamond series of Wharfedale 12.c models presents two sets of high quality and 5-way binding post terminals for optional bi-wire connection. The terminals are constructed in angled position, allowing handy and easily access and neater wire management.
Exceptional Voice Coil
The voice coil is wrapped on a high-power glass fiber bobbin, highly unusual in speakers at this price level. The 12.c has the advantage of not adding eddy currents and delivering greater power handling than an aluminium bobbin, whilst also being much stiffer than the Kapton type associated with this price class. Somewhere, these coils have exceptional power, which allows optimal bass.
Wood Brace to Achieve an Optimal
Wooden braces are precisely modeled by computer simulation to improve upon the commonplace 'figure of eight' brace, which may simply transfer resonance from one wall to another. The Diamond 12.c cabinet walls convey a multi-layered sandwich design to suppress resonance. Inside the cabinet, Intelligent Spot Bracing connects opposite walls with a wood brace to further reduce panel flexing and vibration.
Sturdy and Classic
The 12.c Wharfedale Diamond’s rear-ported enclosure is perfectly sized so that the inner volume works in harmony with the drive unit system to deliver the desired sonic result. A multi-layered sandwich design overpowers the identifiable characteristics of the sound of the cabinet. Even the resonant properties of the glue between the layers were measured to determine the optimum combination.

Diamond Highlights
A woven polyester film is used in making a 25mm dome with a high-loss coating to deliver open and smoothly highly extended frequencies. In 12.c Diamond, the magnet system and the front plate have been optimised for wide dispersion and uncompressed behaviour.The front plate is flat and exposes the dome as much as possible; it has a very short duct on the front plate that balances the acoustic load and improves the SPL (sound pressure level) measurement.
